Job Summary:

Responsible for leading all operational, service, finance, personnel functions, and performance of the store. Ensure the store functions consistently at a level of operational excellence. Includes extraordinary customer experience, meet/exceed store metric goals, and operate in full compliance with company standards and policies in such a manner which embodies the vision and mission of the company. Oversee and participate in all daily activities including flawless order fulfilment, inventory management, sales processes, merchandising, staffing & scheduling, loss prevention, and safety. All to create an efficient, engaging, and customer?focused environment.

The Store Manager is the caretaker of the company’s market interests as well as the security and protection of company and corporate inventory and assets. They have discretionary and independent judgment such as decision making, authority over important matters, and are expected to execute their business operation responsibilities while still performing their primary duties. All things that relate to the professional and efficient operations of the store unit, recruiting, and development of staff are the responsibility of the Store Manager. They are to create and maintain positive, upbeat, winning environment for employees by inspiring a shared vision and a contagious enthusiasm for the job.

  • Provide a safe and healthy workplace through application of safety processes, product handling, job related training, and programs. Follow and enforce all safety rules and procedures. Report, act, and correct any reports of safety or workplace hazards or incidents/events. Enforce use of required / supplied PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • Comply with and exercise precise / accurate time management and reporting of all statutory and compliance matters, payroll processes, FLSA wage and hour, timekeeping, scheduling, meal & rest break, complaints, leaves of absence, etc.

Responsibilities – Sales and Operations:

  • Lead, guide, and participate in the required day-to-day retail / commercial operations and activities of the Store.
  • Develop and execute the store business plan, fiscal management from financials, budgeting to operating statements. Manage store P-N-L, sales, expenses, and inventory levels to budget.
  • Store Audit Proficiency and Execution: The road map to achieving Operational Excellence.
  • Keep secure and protect company and corporate inventory and assets. i.e. Inventory, cash / funds, time, property, vehicles, equipment
  • Inventory management excellence through meeting gross margin ROI; turn management; accurate order /receiving, sales and order processes; cycle counts, write-downs/offs, shelf tagging, etc. Comply with all corporate inventory policies.
  • Maintenance and appearance of physical facility both interior and exterior as well as the condition, maintenance, and use of delivery vehicles. Proper product / store ordering and store organization.
  • Support company promotions including product display, application of point-of-purchase signage and timely execution of end cap and promotional merchandising.
  • Staff level scheduling to affect the highest level of customer service and AOR’s.
  • Continue own management / leadership training and development.
  • Follow personnel management, recruiting, and hiring policies and procedures using required program guides to ensure legal hiring and employment practices are upheld.
  • Management administration: work files, month-end, records & reporting, communications, JDE.
  • Logistical processes for POS, JDE, SharePoint, Company Website, and related methods.
  • Work in partnership with Sales Representatives to effectively prospect and develop new accounts, gather market intelligence to ensure an understanding of our competitors and their position in the market.
  • Develop and maintain contact with new and existing customers through telephone and selling skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Requirements and Essential Functions:
  • Proficient and demonstrated experience in all store positions, job functions, and requirements.
  • Two years of coating and management experience as a Rodda-Miller Paint or coating related industry employee. Current employees: All prerequisite position training completed, excellent attendance record, no disciplinary corrective actions. Track record of positive, collaborative, productive presence at work and with co-workers.
  • Understanding and experience of business plans, budgeting to operating statements, management of financials, PNL’s, inventory management and control, logistics, etc.
  • Timely and predictable attendance is a requirement for all Rodda-Miller Paint positions.
  • The Store Manager is expected to be scheduled and present at their location for the entirety of their scheduled shift on at least a full-time basis. Scheduling and reporting of this position must remain flexible and available given the contingencies of the business and company. This includes being available and present when staffing is inadequate or is needed to meet hours of operation and service level requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience of leadership, training, & employee development while working in a store unit.
  • Training: Complete all required job training including, but not limited to: Management/Hiring Training, GHS/DOT Transportation & Handling of Dangerous Goods, Safe Driving, SERVICE 6, forklift cert. (if required), Workplace Fairness/Code of Conduct, Workplace Safety/Accident Prevention Program, HCP,
  • Effective time and organizational management to provide results when managing multiple priorities.
  • Driving: Ability to legally drive for business is an essential job function. Maintain an MVR, which is consistent with company’s safe-driving guidelines. Possess an active, unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence. Should the Manager be required at any time to make a delivery or drive on behalf of the company safely and lawfully operate the company vehicle, so travel time and distance is optimal. Ensure load is properly secured, complete vehicle pre-trip check.
  • Oral communication skills: Proficient: fully conversant (speaking, listening), fluent in English.
  • Reading and writing skills: Proficient; reading and writing documents in standard English text.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient and accurate in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Understanding measures and weights. Money computation, making accurate change.
  • Computer / POS: Proficient skills required. Maintains computer efficiency in using software programs such as color computer software, Outlook, Excel, Word, JDE/AS400/POS, internet navigation, online training, etc.
  • High School Degree Required, bachelor’s degree Preferred.
  • Machine, Tools, Equipment, PPE used: POS/computer system, tint machine, shaker, forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, hand tools, ladders, box cutter, phone, scanner, and required PPE, i.e. gloves, dust mask, respirator, safety glasses.
Physical Requirements:
Physical Requirements: The work environment consists of physical conditions typical of a retail – commercial store, sales floor environment. The job is performed while standing with regular walking and the lifting and carrying of various paint containers and related items on a concrete surface. Full-physical mobility is a requirement for the performance of every store position. Including:
Sitting Occasional e.g. For dedicated and required desk, paper, and computer work. Sitting is not allowed on the sales floor; Constant while driving
Standing and Walking Constant: assist customers at counter, inventory stocking / retrieval, to move about store and property
Lifting floor-waist Frequent: 1– 20 lbs. Occasional: 25 – 65 lbs. sundries, boxes, equipment, one-gallon cans, five-gallon buckets
Lifting waist-shoulder Occasional: 1-15lbs. One gallon paint can and smaller. Seldom to Never: 30 + lbs. Stacking five-gallon pails (3 high limit, maximum to mid torso level, shoulder height never required). Employees are required to use ladders or lift assistance equipment when lifting outside of their safe zone.
Lifting shoulder – overhead Seldom: 1-15 lbs. Ladders are provided for retrieving and placing stock on shelves. Employees are required to use ladders or lift assistance equipment when lifting outside of their safe zone.
Carrying – Distance to 70 ft. surface hard, flat, cement floors or parking lot surface* Seldom: 15 -65 lbs. Retrieve product for customers, deliver, and load customer vehicles in parking lot. *Hand trucks /  lift assist equipment are required for moving pails, or larger items weighing heavier than 30 lbs. over any distance.
