Job Summary:

Responsible for participating as a team member of the Manufacturing unit; providing production excellence through performance standards and accuracy set for Right First Time (RFT) achievement. This position is an indoor location with products, paints, cleaning supplies, petroleum products, combustible materials.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Work independently, using the Chemist and Quality Control as resources.
  • Supports Lab, Plant and QC to improve Right First Time (RFT).
  • Sets up raw materials for batch.
  • Provides Quality Control with samples throughout the process.
  • Follow directions on batch card, formula in order of addition.
  • Use proper production techniques, ensuring proper amounts, weights, and measurements are added to batch including rate at which ingredients are added, machine operation/adjustment for efficiency of batch.
  • Uses product knowledge to ensure proper mixing (grind and let-down).
  • Report difficulty with batch production to all required personnel.
  • Practices proper grounding and bonding techniques.
  • Hooks up pumps and transfers material from one tank to another tank.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment (mixers, pump lines, vessels, and personal equipment).
  • Ensures that batch documentation is complete and legible.
  • Properly disposes and rinses chemical containers.
Knowledge, Skills, Requirements and Essential Functions:
  • Minimum 2 years of production helper and completion of the 18-month progression position program
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
  • Complete all on-the-job required safety and knowledge training.
  • Timely and predictable attendance is a requirement for all positions at Rodda Paint
  • Basic oral communication: Effective conversant (speaking, listening) in English. Reading and writing skills: Effective and basic skill in reading and writing documents in standard English text. Interpret paint formulas and chemistry of batch. Mathematical skills: Skill in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Understanding of weights and measures
  • Precise and accurate sorting and organizing of paperwork; accurate and clear documentation skills.
  • Regular interaction with staff other than one’s supervisor while productively working with minimal supervision.
  • At all times, exercise and exhibit safe behaviors and safety standards.

Without exception, employees are required to utilize all provided and mandated PPE, lift/carry assists, and any equipment / program in place to ensure the safety and health of themselves and all others

Physical Requirements:
  • The work environment consists of physical conditions typical of a manufacturing plant.
  • The job is performed while standing with regular walking on a concrete / asphalt surface and the lifting and carrying of various job-related items. Full-physical mobility is required for the performance of all manufacturing positions.  Including:  standing and walking (constantly) lifting to waist level, and carrying (up to 80 lbs.), crawling occasionally. Lifting (occasional, pails, bags, buckets, boxes, equipment most often 15 – 80 lbs.); Carrying (occasional, 10 – 80 lbs., up to 70 ft); Reaching (frequent, floor to waist, at waist and shoulder level, fully extended); Push/Pull (occasional, sliding boxes, pallets and batches, up to 100 lbs. of force); Bend/Stoop (continuous, picking up product, loading unloading); Climb/Balance (occasional, stairs, while carrying items in hand); Handling (continuous) buckets, box knife, pallet jack, hand truck, supplies, paperwork, broom/mop

Tools and equipment: Scanning equipment, calculator, weight scales, freight elevator, pumps & meters, portable tanks, mixers, high-speed dispersers, sand mills, step ladder, forklift, wrapper, trash compactor, cans, buckets, and hand tools.
