Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager is a member of the store management team and performs the functions that directly support all customers and salesmen. Continue professional development for improvement to achieve future job progression. Under the tutelage of the Store Manager, excel in existing Sales Associate responsibilities while training through day-to-day involvement in the logistical and physical operations of the store.

Responsible for familiarizing the processes, and service philosophy and mastering the Rodda skills necessary to manage a store, while exercising the responsibility of participating as a team member of the store unit providing exceptional performance in the areas of service, product sales, and operating processes.  Responsible for learning the commercial side of the unit’s operations. Product, Stocking quantities, procurement, delivery processes, records management, equipment maintenance, and all things, which touch the customer

The selected Assistant Store Manager will work in this capacity in supporting Operations. This role will feature mentorship and training, in order to develop the requisite skills necessary to be considered for future Store Management opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

Customer Service, Operations, and Logistics:

  • Regular training and increasing responsibility and awareness of physical and logistical operations for:
    • Store business plan, fiscal management from financials, budgeting to operating statements
    • Inventory management with adherence to inventory budgets, processes and procedures
    • Product ordering and store organization / spray equipment sales and rental procedures
    • Day-to-day operational needs of a retail store
    • Management / leadership training and development
    • Store staffing and ADP payroll processing and policies
    • Administrative responsibilities; work files, month-end, records and reporting, communications, JDE use and operations
    • Recruiting and personnel management
    • Statutory and regulatory items
  • Through leadership development, contribute to fellow employee’s knowledge, skill level, and success in regard to position development and adherence of policy in procedures
  • Answering basic customer inquiries in person and by phone.
  • Determine and recommend products to customers ensuring they are supplied with all items required for their project.
  • Order processing, accurate tinting and shaking of paint, recording information in customer color history files.
  • Operating basic functions in the POS system, i.e. processing of sales, product inquiries, pricing, etc.
  • Security and protection of company and corporate inventory and assets.
  • Inventory control; aisle /slotting, cycle counts, stock ordering, write-offs.
  • Shipping and receiving duties; putting away, rotating and stock, etc.
  • Safely operate equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Participate in keeping the store organized, clean, tidy, and inviting.
  • Follow and enforce all workplace safety rules, procedures, and COVID-19 store protocols. Report, act and correct any report of safety or workplace hazards or incidents/events.
  • Proper use and maintenance required / supplied PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • For driving portion of position; safely and lawfully operate the Rodda Paint vehicle so travel time and distance during delivery is optimal.
  • AOR’s – Areas of Responsibilities: All other store operations duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Requirements and Essential Functions:
  • Two years of demonstrated experience as a Rodda Paint or coatings industry related Sales Associate or Assistant Manager (preferred)
  • Timely and predictable attendance is a requirement of all Rodda Paint positions
  • Scheduling and reporting of this position must remain flexible and available given the contingencies of the business and company­­­­
  • Displayed capability for leadership, training, and employee development
  • Effective time and organizational management to provide results when handling multiple priorities
  • Training: Complete all required job training including, but not limited to: Sales Associate, Management, Hiring Training, HMIS / DOT Transportation & Handling of Dangerous Goods, Safe Driving, SERVICE 6, forklift cert. (if required), Workplace Fairness / Code of Conduct, Workplace Safety / Accident Prevention Program, COVID-19 Store Protocols,
  • Driving: With rare exception, the ability to legally drive on business is an essential function of all store positions. Must present & sustain a Department of Motor Vehicles Record (DMVR), which is consistent with company safe-driving guidelines. In the context of this description ‘legal’ means: Personal liability insurance at the state minimum; possession of an active, unrestricted driver’s license issued by the state of residence; no more than three (3) convictions for ‘moving’ violations in the trailing 36-months; no ‘criminal traffic’ convictions (negligence, DUII/DWI, racing, vehicular homicide/assault, etc.) in the trailing 60-months.
  • Oral communication skills: Efficient; fully conversant (speaking, listening), fluent in English
  • Reading and writing skills: Efficient; reading and writing documents in standard English text
  • Mathematical SkillsEfficient and accurate in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Understanding of measures and weights. Money computation, making accurate change
  • Computer/POS: Efficient skills required. Maintains computer efficiency in using software programs such as color computer software, Outlook, Excel, Word, JDE/AS400/POS, and internet navigation, online training, etc.
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
Physical Requirements:

The work environment consists of physical conditions typical of a retail store, sales floor environment. The job is performed while standing with regular walking and the lifting and carrying of various paint containers and related items.  Full-physical mobility is required to the performance of every store position.
