Prep & Prime
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of contaminants such as wax, oils, grease, weld splatter, or loose mil/scale/rust. As a minimum, SSPC-SPC Hand Tool Cleaning or SSPC-SPC3 Machine Tool Cleaning is recommended. Smooth surfaces should be abraded to enhance adhesion. Improved performance can be achieved with SSPC-SP6 Commercial Blast. All surfaces prepared for painting should be coated within 8 hours of completion of surface prep.
Concrete BlockPrime and fill with 501901x Sprayable Block Filler.
MasonryMasonry surfaces to be painted must be thoroughy cured, clean, and dry prior to painting. Priming is also recommended with Rodda.501601x First Coat Primer or 505901x Multi Prime. When repainting masonry, care must be taken to insure the surface to be painted is clean and sound.
MetalSelf-Priming. All rust, mill scale, dirt and other foreign material must be removed prior to painting. In corrosive environments prime with 708195x All Purpose Rust Inhibitive Primer, 708095 Barrier III or 708295 Barrier III HS Red Oxide Primer.
WoodWood surfaces to be painted should be primed (and sanded if desired) prior to painting. Again, care must be taken to insure surfaces to be repainted are clean and sound. Use 501601x First Coat or 701501x Exterior Control Primer.
Application
Do not apply when air or surface temperatures are expected to drop below 50 degrees F. or rise above 95 degrees F. during application and drying.
May be applied using a brush, roller or spray.
Airless SprayRecommend pressure 2000 to 2500 psi, using .013 to .017 tip orifice.
