Basic UseAll Purpose Equipment Enamel is a highly pigmented medium oil alkyd enamel for use anywhere a hard, durable, enamel finish is desired. It is effective on surfaces such as structural steel, beams, trusses, metal doors, metal sash, metal trim, lockers, handrails, stairs and all types of machinery.

Prep & Prime
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of contaminants such as wax, oils, grease, weld splatter, or loose mil/scale/rust. As a minimum, SSPC-SPC Hand Tool Cleaning or SSPC-SPC3 Machine Tool Cleaning is recommended. Smooth surfaces should be abraded to enhance adhesion. Improved performance can be achieved with SSPC-SP6 Commercial Blast. All surfaces prepared for painting should be coated within 8 hours of completion of surface prep.
MasonryNew Masonry: Other than block, prime with 501601x First Coat Primer or 505901x Multi Prime.
Block - New Interior: Prime and fill with 501901x Sprayable Block Filler.
MetalGalvanized: Clean thoroughly. Prime with 74079 Galva Cling. Aluminum: Prime with 71007 Clovabond.
Ferrous Metal: Prime with 7080xxx Barrier II Metal Primer, 7082xxx Barrier III High Solids Metal Primer or 708195x All Purpose Rust Inhibitive Primer.
WallboardPrime with 507801x Scotseal.
WoodNew Interior: Prime with 502001x Unique II 100% Acrylic Enamel Undercoater, or 702901x Speed Prime.
Application
Do not apply when air or surface temperatures are expected to drop below 50 Deg F. or rise above 95 Deg F during application and drying. Please see above for expected dry times.
BrushUse a natural bristle brush
Roller / PadUse 3/16" to 3/8" nap synthetic or lambswool roller cover.-Use a synthetic pad.
Airless SprayRecommend pressure 2000 to 2500 psi, using .013 to .016 tip orifice.
Conventional SprayRecommend air pressure 40 - 60 psi; fluid pressure 20 psi; JGA 510 gun, FX tip, 705 air cap.
