Prep & Prime
All surfaces to be painted must be clean and dry. CAUTION!! Material dries quickly in thin films and will form skins which may clog equipment. Keep container covered or mist water on the to prevent premature drying.
GALVANIZED: Allow to weather 6 months prior to Solvent Clean SSPC-SP1 & painting. If weathering is not possible. Solvent Clean per SSPC-SP1. apply test patch & allow to dry 1 week before testing adhesion.
PVC/FIBERGLASS: Scuff sand to abrade surface & Apply test patch, wait 1 week before testing adhesion.
Concrete Block Apply 501901x Sprayable Block Filler and allow to thoroughly dry before topcoating.
Masonry Must be thoroughly cured before painting. Priming with 501601x First Coat Primer is recommended prior to topcoating.
Metal Suggest minimum preparation of Hand Tool Cleaning per SSPC-SP2. Remove all grease & oil per Solvent Cleaning SSPC-SP1. Remove chalk & old paint not tightly bonded to the surface. Clean all visible rust to bare metal. Smooth or shiny surfaces should be abraded to improve adhesion of the coating to the substrate.
Wood Priming wtih 501601x First Coat Primer is recommended prior to topcoating.
Application
Apply when substrate temperatures is 50 F. or above and expected to remain above 50 F for a minimum of 24 hours. Do not apply out doors if rain or dew is expected within 24 hours or completion.
Coats Apply one or two coats to achieve 2.5 -3.5 milsdry film thickness.
Roller / Pad Use a top quality synthetic roller cover.
Airless Spray Equipment capable of maintaining constant 1800 psi at the tip (.013" to .019" tip orifice)
Conventional Spray DeVilbiss JGA Gun or equivalent. Fluid pressure 25 - 30 psi ( pressure 40 - 50 psi)
