Re-Paint My Millwork

Project Scenario
Joe wants to repaint all the doors and jambs in his house. What are his choices?
Preparation
- Clean areas to be painted. Rinse and let dry thoroughly.
- Pet owners be aware that animal hair will require additional cleaning time and airborne contaminants will affect the finish appearance.
- Sand with 150 grit sandpaper to dull gloss and sheen and remove all dust.
- Patch with Bondo Spot Putty.
- Caulk edges for uniform appearance.

Caution! Things to consider
- Clean working areas to improve the finished work.
- Proper dry times are critical.
- Spray application creates the smoothest finish, but creates a larger mess.
- Brush and roll has a smaller impact on the work area, but the finish is not as blemish free as spray millwork.
- Use an ammonia based cleaner to remove wax.
